In order to achieve more flexibility for current and future upgrades of the plant, Dansico needed to replace the existing production system with a modern batch production control system. The PLC programs were not to be modified and the production system needed to integrate with SAP.
Solution:
The new production system is based on the Wonderware products System Platform and InBatch. The production system receives production orders from SAP and executes each order all the way from unpacking raw-materials to packing finished goods on pallets. Executing the orders involves booking raw-materials from the raw-material warehouse, reporting raw-material consumptions, sending setpoints to the PLCs, and reporting production status and amount of finished goods.
Benefit:
The new production system provides full traceability throughout the complete production process. Since the system is based on the modern products from Wonderware the system is very flexible, and the amount of engineering time needed when adding new machines and equipment is dramatically reduced.
