Ovako wanted to minimize the fuel consumption.
Solution:
A FOCS system was installed. This was the first FOCS system based on Windows .NET platform.
Benefit:
In addition to fuel savings, the system offloads the operators so they can perform other duties as well, knowing that the FOCS system automatically makes sure that optimal heating is performed.
The FOCS system utilizes a billet temperature calculation in 2-dimensions. The operators can easily view the temperature distribution in the billet.
