Prevas and the Swedish medical technology company, Zenicor Medical Systems, have developed the unique product, Zenicor ECG-2, which simplifies the diagnosis of disturbances in heart rhythm.
A disturbance in heart rhythm is usually noted when the heart beats harder or more irregularly than usual. Zenicor ECG-2 collects ECG measurements in order to diagnose certain kinds of heart defects in time.
The product is easy to use. The patient can obtain an ECG quickly and easily in the home by simply placing his or her thumb on the hand unit. Measurements are sent to a central database via a regular mobile telephone. The caregiver can then review the results via a web interface and make a clinical assessment. Letting the patient perform the tests in a relaxed home environment, without having to travel back and forth to a hospital, has been shown to yield better, more typical results.
Zenicor ECG-2 consists of a portable unit, which patients can borrow, and a centralized database with a web interface for clinical assessment. The unit consists basically of a screen, two measuring electrodes, a circuit board with a processor and a built-in GPRS modem.
