Borås Energi and Miljö AB choose Prevas and Infor EAM for maintenance at Sobacken

Borås Energi och Miljö AB has invested SEK 3.7 billion in new facilities at Sobacken outside Borås, Sweden. These are hypermodern facilities for district heating, electricity and wastewater. Biogas is also produced here, which goes to public sales and to the municipalities’ cars, trucks and buses. The maintenance solution for the facilities will be supplied by Prevas.

Asset Management maintenance system
With so much being invested in modern facilities, it is important to find a matching solution for maintaining assets. Borås Energi och Miljö was looking for a maintenance solution at the leading edge, preventative as well as condition-based. The combined power and heating plant that supplies the municipality's residents with remote heating must never fail, and the same applies to the wastewater plant. To manage such large and complex assets as a hypermodern wastewater plant, a good maintenance system is needed.

With emphasis on user-friendliness
Prevas was one of four companies who responded to the request for tender.

“We got the chance to show our system on two occasions for Borås Energi och Miljö AB,” says David Baeckström, sales executive for EAM at Prevas AB. “We first presented our project model and basic system, and at a subsequent demonstration showed the system's mobility as constituted by Infor EAM.

“The early input we received from Borås Energi och Miljö was that user-friendliness was highly valued. This is a good match for our solution since all interfaces are fully configurable based on the various roles or persons who will be working with the solution.”

“That we're procuring a maintenance system is due to a recently conducted merger of two organizations; we wanted to avoid having two maintenance systems,” says Andreas Ulveström, head of maintenance at Borås Energi. “In conjunction with implementation of the maintenance system, we also want to refine our processes and work methods. During the demonstrations during the procurement phase, Prevas showed us a powerful but user-friendly system in Infor EAM, with an attractive appearance and that feels intuitive. Prevas’ model for carrying out the project also feels solid and highly professional. It is our hope that we’ll get a well-configured system that both supports and streamlines our work.”

Gartner is an independent institution for assessment of various IT systems, and in their magic quadrant, Infor EAM is at the very top. The system is fully configurable to fit various needs and conditions, and is used, for example, in CERN's particle accelerator for maintenance, but also bye several other energy companies in Sweden and Norway.

“We're very happy and proud that Prevas was chosen to supply the system,” says David Baeckström in closing. “It's always fun working with customers who are at the forefront of technology.”

Prevas is a preferred partner for Infor in Scandinavia, has more than 20 years of experience of Infor EAM and has personnel throughout Scandinavia.
