Norwegian Crystals signs agreement with Prevas

The Infor EAM maintenance system for purchasing, warehousing and maintenance management has been implemented at the factory in Glomfjord.

The industrial adventure in Glomfjord started as early as 1898, and has been in the media limelight the past few years due to the enormous expansion in conjunction with the restructuring and then subsequent closure of REC's solar cell production. There is still life in the industrial park, however. Norwegian Crystals has taken over REC's old factory with the aim of selling high-quality monocrystal silicon wafers and solar panels (modules) to the solar industry through silicon production. Project members, investors and mainstays with extensive experience from the solar industry are onboard and moving ahead to build up capacity for full operation.

One important step in the initiative involved obtaining a maintenance system with good functionality for purchasing and maintenance management. After an intensive evaluation period last autumn, the Infor EAM system from Prevas was selected.

"It was important to get our warehousing and purchasing operations going quickly," says Raymond Jensen, purchasing manager at Norwegian Crystals.

"Many processes have to be handled during the factory's start-up phase, and it was important to get all the right tools in place as quickly as possible. Prevas was able to put Infor EAM at our disposal for warehousing and purchasing on short notice since the company has its own operations center; this allowed us to get started in these areas before initiating our maintenance work," continues Raymond Jensen.

"Infor EAM also satisfied our demands for user friendliness and functionality for maintenance management. Prevas has received many positive referrals and offers different user interfaces to satisfy the customer's actual needs. We found the user friendliness and flexibility appealing. Infor EAM's flexibility and totality helped simplify our choice," adds Arnstein Jensen, technical manager at Norwegian Crystals.

Norwegian Crystals began implementing Infor EAM last autumn, and it is now up and running.

"Norwegian Crystals has made an exciting investment. The factory in Glomfjord is state-of-the-art, and all of the conditions needed to succeed in this interesting industry are now in place. We are happy to be part of the team," says Einar Alexander Andersen, sales and account manager at Prevas.
